Thoughts on bread & butter bubbies versus using dill bubbies for this? We are a house divided on the great pickle debate and I am curious how vital the bread & butter pickle type is for the recipe. Inquiring, pickle-loving minds need to know. : )
I made this today, July 4th! I marinated in dill because I didn’t have bread and butter. However, for the sauce, I added in sweet and sour relish, along with some pickled jalapenos. Delicious and brought in some sweetness and heat. Yum!!
Wanted this recipe but didn’t want to run to the store. Made these tonight with the jar of Pepperoncini juice (and sad last 4 peppers) that’s been staring at me for months. It was delish. Not spicy, even my 2.5 year old ate it no problem. Made quick pickles with a leftover cucumber from yesterdays dinner. 10 out of 10.
What are folks thoughts on adding cheese to these? I normally wouldn't add cheese to a chicken thigh, but it was so good on the balsamic chicken sandwich I was thinking of trying it with this recipe... Like, havarti or something?
Even though my propane went out at the end, they turned out great! Reminded me of a BK Broiler, but way better. It was a great way to use up all the brine left in my Costco pickle jar.
pork sandwiches would be so good! i'd marinate a pork tenderloin, grill it (about 4 minutes per "side" -- 12 to 15 total -- then thinly slice it and pile it onto the bun. yum!

Dill are FAB too but the sugar in the BB makes things next level.
Should we use boneless skinless thighs??
Crap - yes!!!!!
Haha. I read it three times and wanted to assume but also wanted to check with you!

These sandwiches were so freaking delicious! It was like elevated fast food.
We make these weekly, and I can say it's awesome with both dill and bread and butter (but BB is def next level!)

Any chance that sauerkraut brine would work on these?
Made this Tuesday night. HELLOO summer rotation meal. This was so great. Used sweet heat bread and butter pickles. 🥒

Do you grill the zucchini with the lid open or closed?
Always grill lid closed unless a recipe specifically says open

Making this tonight (with Dill because B & B is a hard pass for me).
can you use another protein/meat besides chicken on this by chance? i'm currently turned off by chicken but this recipe sounds so good!
