I’m from central Virginia and we always called it a “cook out!”

Love love love these emails, would absolutely keep devouring them over the summer. That being said, if you’d rather just take a break and be with your fam at the cabin, then DO LESS!

Wow the way I almost gasped when I saw Annabel Monaghan was the podcast guest. I am so excited to listen!

Also, I’m in NC, and call it grilling and the event you would have with the food would be a cook out. I was in the Midwest once, and they said we were having a barbecue, and me and a girl from Texas thought we were about to get brisket and pulled pork, and when they told us it was just hot dogs and hamburgers, we were absurdly disappointed.

We live in the mid-Atlantic, but my husband and I are both from Georgia. He was talking recently to some people who said something about a barbecue and he said “wait, wait, what are you calling “barbecue”?” They’d heard it before from him. One sighed and answered “ok, we know. You’d call it a ‘cook-out.’”

I love these emails - they’re such a delight! I love everything you put out - I’ll eat up anything you give us. But also want you to enjoy your break with your fam :) BTW no one can ever agree if Texas is in the south - but we say grilling out too!

Definitely love the newsletters so if you feel so inclined to keep sending them, I love them and look so forward to them BUT understand you need a break too! 🩷 from a fellow North Carolinian now in the Midwest who still says “grilling out/grill”

In the northeast, I’d say grilling or grilling out is the action (we’re grilling for dinner) and a cookout is the get-together (come over on Sunday for a cookout). Yay for summer!

Grilling out! Barbecue is chopped or pulled pork and I won’t have it any other way. I’m from Raleigh and have spent much of my life in Eastern NC. I’ll take a barbecue sandwich from Wilber’s or Parker’s any day!

I LOVE Pure Sage bags! Thank you for including them in your newsletter! They are so pretty, I can put a brand new dress purchase in them as easily as loading them up with groceries. I love the mini size for travel, perfect for the sandwich, water and magazine you purchase in the airport.

Midwest transplant here… grilling out was a foreign phrase to me. Coming from California, it’s definitely barbecue! But I get looked at like a weirdo here! 😂 my family in the south uses cook out.

We are still "grilling out" or "cooking out" in North Carolina, and "barbecue" is still pulled pork with sauce. Love your recipes and content!

My pre-order of summer romance arrived yesterday and I was able to sneak in a few pages last night and this morning. Loving it so far!
