If you are single (a widow) like me and you LOVE to make soup be sure to share with your neighbors! They will love it and you will as well. Soup just bonds folks. And a little bread on the side doesn’t hurt!

no one has ever been bummed out about receiving a soup delivery!!!!

This is SO true, Linda! My neighbor brought me and my son tomato soup once when we were under the weather and we are eternally grateful!

I double my soup recipes and stash one batch in the freezer, I always have a few on hand, it makes the perfect quick dinner for last minute guests and you really look like you have it all together! Ask them to bring a loaf of crusty bread and dinner is served!

Also just buy an immersion blender, they take up zero cabinet space, are so easy to clean, and they are inexpensive. No more transferring soup from pot to blender back to pot. It changed my life!

So smart — I need to start doing that! Also wow, what a good pitch for the immersion blender, I think I need to invest in one

I completely agree with you, Colleen!! My immersion blender is an ESSENTIAL soup tool in the chilly seasons! I love your idea of doubling the recipe for a quick last min dinner. Truly clutch hack!

I was just raving to my coworkers about the farro, kale and mushroom soup (that my 8 year old rated as the best soup he's ever had) when I got this email for the soup handbook! How timely! Can't wait to try more!

Caroline Chambers's avatar

This made me smile so much. Forward this to them!!!!

I usually have enough soup to feed us one meal plus a quart yogurt container to go in the freezer. A weekly zero effort dinner item for us all winter is soup from the freezer accompanied by cheddar cheese melted on sandwich bread.

Molly from What To Cook's avatar

So smart. And cheddar cheese melted on sandwich bread!!! I make that "cheese toast" all the time too

SOUP SEASON! Thank you Caro! Also, just ordered 3 more copies (on top of the 3 I already bought 🫣) for $46 on Amazon for Xmas gifts. Amazing!

I love you so much!!!

Earlywood makes the very best wooden utensils. I have an entire set. They're beautiful as well.

The tips on how to convert anything to slow cook are SO SMART. Thanks for making our lives easier!

A monumental contribution to soup lore!

I made your veggie chili with chorizo last night and it was OUTSTANDING!! In all truth, that is probably the 10th recipe I’ve made from your book so far—and we’ve loved them all!👏😎 I love your cooking style Caro! 💜

omg that sounds SO GOOD!!!!!

When serving soup, I always add a drizzle of really good olive oil on top. Tastes good and adds healthy fats.

I want to know if there is anything I can do to fall in love with chili again. I fear I made it too much, especially during the pandemic, and I killed it for myself. Which is a shame b/c it's so easy and stretches so well.

LisaDuv's avatar

Same. My family went from being excited about chili to indifferent to begging not to have chili ever again. We’re on year two of our chili hiatus. I’ve swapped in taco soup. It’s different enough but works with similar toppings and is also easy and stretchy.

Claire Zulkey's avatar

that’s a good call! Now I’m realizing I could go for a good posole…

Caroline Chambers's avatar

I was gonna say the white chicken chili!!!

Thank you for organizing the soups into 1 place. This is glorious. Hugs !

Hey Caroline! When using BTB instead of stock, do you usually mix it into hot water first and then add it to the pot? Or can I throw water in the pot and then stir in a scoop of BTB?

Caroline Chambers's avatar

add the scoop and the water, separately, directly to the pot!

I was hoping you would say this! Thank you!
