Cannon Beach, OR is such a happy place for me to go during the summer! Something special about walking by that big rock and tide pools. From reading through your book recs and comments it seems like I need to book a trip to northern Michigan ASAP with all the love it’s getting!!
I’m from Massachusetts so really anywhere on the coast! Love going to Bar Habor Maine and Lake Winnipesaukee in NH. Also if you do try another thriller The Only One Left by Riley Sager is the best book I’ve ever read. I’ve read it twice (once to get myself out of my reading rut) and was amazing both times
Deer Isle, Maine! We've had a family house there for over three decades and while things are a bit different now, crossing that bridge means summer has OFFICIALLY started!!!!
Mine is coastal Maine during the summertime! We used to spend a week or two every summer when I was a kid "camping" in an RV at a campsite geared towards families, with a lake to canoe on and a dock and a big board with the day's activities and schedule. And, of course, campfires and lots of s'mores. So many great memories here. It is my happy place.
my favorite place in the summer is Portsmouth, NH - I lived at Strawbery Banke Museum for a summer as an intern in grad school and it was the most fun, delightful New England summer. I've been chasing that high ever since! I live in the Triangle area of NC so I dream of the cool breeze off the river on our hot humid days haha.
I truly believe there is no place better than Northern Michigan. Being on the lake eating (sandy) sandwiches, swimming morning, noon, and night, eating ice cream while watching the sunset... It's magical.
Northern Michigan! We also have a family cabin that my grandparents built in 1970 on a smaller lake that is connected to Lake Michigan. The Emily Henry stories in Michigan get me every time!
Hingham, MA specifically over the 4th of July... Main St center line painted red, white, and blue for the parade, chilly dips in the ocean from rocky pebble beaches, grilling every night we're not eating fresh lobster, and seeing fireworks from the sailboat at night. It's become my 5 year-old son's favorite place on earth (4th of July ranks higher than Christmas according to him!) and we look forward to visiting every year from our home in Wilmington, NC.
I also love Nantasket in Hull- my mom grew up in Cohasset and could hear the screams of people on the roller coaster in the summer (from the now defunct Paragon Park amusement park in Hull)
My favorite summer location is home. I live in Chicago area and it’s glorious in the summer. We suffer through winters for this amazing summer. I travel other times of the year, but rarely in summer. I have an amazing backyard and spend so many hours in it by myself and entertaining friends and family.
Brewster, MA on Cape Cod! My great grandparents bought 80 acres of land in the '40s and each of their 5 daughters split up the property. Now all my dad's cousins and my second cousins reunite and get to see each other all summer.

Saugatuck, MI!
Frye Island, in the middle of Lake Sebago, Maine. My in-laws rent a house there every year. It’s heaven.
Figure Eight Island and Ocean Isle Beach, NC!!
Thanks for naming George’s teammates. 💔 take a moment and remember my very best friend/ first cousin SGT Ashly Moyer, KIA 3–3-07.
She was fierce, beautiful, and brave. The army both saved her life and cost her life. God bless our fallen and their families.
Condolences for your loss & shout out to all our fallen soldiers & sailors & others who served . Thank you CARO for reminding us all that Memorial
Day while a gathering time for kicking off summer is intended as a day of remembrance!

Linville NC! 🌄 it might become my new favorite fall place as I'm getting married there this Sept!

I was an exchange student in small town Howell. Maybe its time for a revisit on the northern part ❤️

My grandma used to live in Hingham and the 4th of July parade went by her old place!
Wow! I live local and take it for granted. The 4th of July road race is so fun too!
My BFF has a beach house at Nantasket beach and driving through Hingham on the way there is such a treat -- it's the cutest little town!

Michigan! It’s gorgeous in the summer, and the young cousins spend time together.
