We’re in a big kid dinner / adult dinner stage too!! More kid dinners mine will reliably eat: nachos, quesadillas, breakfast for dinner, grilled cheeses, carrots/lettuce/cucumbers with ranch, cashews or pistachios for protein, and so. much. fruit

Oh man we have leaned HARD into nuts too. Such an easy dense calorie food for a kid who feels more snacks,

Our never-fail kid dinner is flatbread pizzas! Just jarred pizza sauce, shredded mozzarella, and any other toppings of choice on a store-bought naan or flatbread. Unbelievably, they will choose homemade flatbread pizzas over takeout pizza almost every time! They often eat at different times from each other due to activities, and it is so nice to be able to assemble both their pizzas at once and then bake them off individually. And the adults can eat something we actually want to eat!

Where was the breast milk chiller when I needed it?! That is BRILLIANT

It’s AMAZING. It was perfect to let me ski last spring without wasting so much time getting to a locker or cold storage.

I know, it’s new to me too!! Wish I’d had it for all my babes

Reading this while packing for a work trip and actively loading these specific zippy bags. I use these bags for everything! Thank you for the recommendation!

Travel tips from someone who used to fly weekly:

1) the earlier you identify a flight delay, the better your chance of dealing with it - a) check the airport status of departure and arrival airports at the faa delay map - https://www.fly.faa.gov/flyfaa/usmap.jsp?legacy=true and b) check if your inbound aircraft is taking off on time (often there is a feature on the airline app that says “where is my plane” outside of weather and aircraft availability a big source of delays is when your crew times out aka hits a max number of hours. this really only happens on days when everything is delayed or when your flight, in particular, is like REALLY delayed, like five hours or so. In this case, ask the gate attendant if he/she knows if the crew is going to time out and get on a new flight asap!

2) download the airline’s app. Makes everything easier.

Re meals - quesadillas! you can jam leftovers in them or make them with taco meat + cheese. Also - fritters - leftover rice or veggies!

it sounds like your in such a nuts season of life. I hereby (as a mom of slightly older kiddos) grant you permission to lower the bar even further if you need or want--- paper plates, mcdonalds, whatever is easiest. Looking back I'm glad I leaned on easy whenever I could.

i love you. good reminder on the paper plates and mcdonalds.

you come sit right next to me if you need permission lower the bar even further, any time. You're doing such a good job at all the important stuff.

A kid-meal adjacent request— a list of recipes that are easy to throw together while wearing a baby 😂 my two month old is currently in the “if you put me down after 5pm I will scream” stage and the dump dinners/ sheet pan dinners/ low heat dinners have been a god send!

Oooooof — that’s A LOT! I’m glad you didn’t delete. It’s so normalizing to hear the ups and downs bc OOF. I don’t have the travel, but I do have the 3 littles and barely get to see/talk to my partner thing going on.

Thanks for the go-to dinner recos!!! 🥰

Appreciate the parenting truths. Currently in a childcare situation that feels like it is being held together by a rubber band...and then one kid pukes and it's all in the air again 🤪 As you say, it will regulate before too long (I hope, I hope, I hope). Good luck to you and your family navigating this patch!

Hi! I'm not sure if it was at your launch cooking party or another newsletter post, but you mentioned a specific olive oil brand you recommend. Which one was that, again? And do they have a discount code for your people? My giant Costco bottle is almost empty. 😆

Jillian from What to Cook's avatar

Hey Michelle! She loves Kosterina olive oil and code CARO15 is hopefully still live if you want to try it!

Michelle's avatar

That worked! Thank you, Jillian!

I totally agree about packing a swimsuit, always! What if the hotel comps you a trip to the spa?

So do you always add spinach to the hella pasta? In the book you mention swapping the kale and spinach. If I add spinach in with the kale will it be too strong?

Molly from What To Cook's avatar

Check out the newsletter version of hella green pasta (linked in the post)! It has both spinach and kale included. The book version was streamlined even more. It’s delish either way!!

You're so real for the airplane smut lol.

And my husband made Hella Green Pasta tonight and it was a HIT for the whole family!!
