Same question here! My dad taught me to leave the gas on for 10m or so, then brush clean once the grease has dried/turned to charcoal. My husband doesn't like leaving it turned on, so he tends to turn it off and then use the grill brush to spread the grease around. Does this make sense? Does he have a point?
Oh I loveeee the solo swimming idea!!! I’m invading my parents house (they have a pool!) for a month this summer with my three kids and after bedtime swims are definitely happening. How have I never thought of this?! (Probably because I’m too exhausted to do anything after bedtimes 😂) but it’s so simple, love it.
Also, grilling question, how to make sure it’s not an overwhelming char/fire taste? And how to cook without drying out meat?

Grilling question - Grilled veggies (zucchini, squash, peppers, eggplant) are so great, help us grill them so to their best non-mushy versions. Please!
Such great timing - I grilled for the first time ever tonight! Made your Most Perfect Grilled Chicken with corn on the cob. It turned out awesome but I was so stressed in the process!
1. Can you talk about temp testing? I tested with an instant read thermometer and took the chicken off when it read 160 (for boneless skinless breasts), but the juice was still pink and it seemed a little undercooked when I cut into it. I ended up putting the chicken back on the grill for 3-4 minutes. Not sure what I did wrong… maybe stuck the probe in too far or not far enough? Also should I take the meat off the grill first or keep on?
2. How important is maintaining a specific temp on the grill? Mine has a thermometer but is pretty low tech and I’m def losing a lot of heat with the lid open to temp check or flip.
3. Metal grill brush? We don’t have one bc my husband says they’ve never worked for him, the bristles just fall off eventually and end up in food. He’s also not had success scrubbing a hot grill. Is there a trick to it? (Or is this user error on his end…)
Thank you for this! I’m excited to try more and build my big grill energy out here.
I read and sleep! I’m a teacher so summer is my time to recharge and refresh. This summer my oldest and only girl is leaving for college so I’m also soaking up every minute I can with her 😭
How the heck do you get it to the right temperature?? I'm used to an oven where you set a temperature, then I go to the grill and turn it on "medium" and 10 minutes later its like 600°?!?
That’s what I came to ask, too! How best to handle temperature fluctuations during grilling… if the temperature spikes while grilling, do you turn the temperature down or open the grill to reduce temp?
Anyone have a recommendation for an especially good we’re-driving-6-hours-to-the-vaca-house-today-and-want-to-have-something-to-plop-on-the-table-when-we-arrive kind of dinner recipe?
We always do pasta night! So make the turkey bolognese ahead of time and freeze it. Keep it in a cooler during travel so it thaws slowly. Then you just need to boil pasta and make a simple salad when you get there
Re: recipe archives. The cassoulet is a VIP in my house. I keep most ingredients in my pantry/freezer and is fast and delicious. The cassoulet deserves more hype.
I sit in the sun and eat the Unreal peanut gems and close my eyes and pretend I'm at the pool snack bar in a wet towel with pruned fingers after 4 hours straight in the pool - chocolate and chlorine mixing and so delicious....
How to deep clean a grill! I feel pretty competent on cleaning the grates before each grill sesh but ngl the whole thing hasn’t gotten a good cleaning in a long time
I'm pretty sure at some point she posted something along the lines of, you just have to Google your specific grill and watch a tutorial for your brand!
I know this isn’t the answer you’re looking for, but I hired a company to come deep clean ours after having never done a deep cleaning before and it was well worth the money for me! Ours is a built in grill and the whole process took him a couple of hours so I was glad to have outsourced!
I didn’t either until a friend shared that she had done it and I was so happy to learn it was an option! We got a recommendation from a neighbor I bet you can google grill cleaning in your area and something will pop up if you decide to go that route!
grilling q: how do you keep your grill clean??
GREAT q
second this Q!

i agree with your dad!!!!! if you try to clean a grill cold you’re just spreading the grease around, as you said.
VINDICATED!

You're the best!!!! This was perfect reading as I am navigating the same feelings about summer and being a busy, working Mom.
Please report back on the Quince couch! I’ve been eyeing one too but nervous to order!
I'm sooooo intrigued by Quince Home I'll def report back!
Favorite grill brush/sponge for really good cleaning without metal bristles?!?!
Hi! I know this question is for Caro but thought I would share our fav one. We love it so much that we gifted them to our family members at Christmas. They all love it too! https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0C8613QJG?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_5&th=1
Thank you!

Grilling Tips Question- We are looking to buy a grill and I can't figure out the pros and cons of which one is "healthier" aka less carcinogenic.

Any tips or tricks for a wood pellet grill like a Traeger?
Second this!
Came here to ask the same thing!
Also blackstone!

Didn’t know you could hire that out! If it proves beyond my capacity I’ll keep this in mind, thanks!
